An artificial balance organ, also called a vestibular implant, may offer the solution in the coming years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Geneva-Maastricht research group is investigating the feasibility of an \u201cartificial\u201d balance organ in collaboration with MED-EL (a manufacturer of medical devices). This website provides information on the research initiative investigating <strong>&#8211;<\/strong> <strong>the vestibular implant &#8211; <\/strong>, on the loss of balance function (vestibular loss), and on other research studies being performed in the field.<br><br>At this point, the Geneva-Maastricht group is performing a trial in which eight patients will be implanted with the new vestibular implant prototype.
